When visibility changes, what and how you communicate matters.

I work with individuals and organisations whose roles or circumstances bring increased visibility, including leaders, spokespeople, sports talent, and creatives. Some are preparing for greater attention; others are already high-profile, navigating intensified scrutiny.

Practical support helps people communicate clearly and credibly when judgement, reputation, and trust are at stake, so they can act with confidence rather than react under pressure.

I work flexibly across coaching, training, and advice, adapting as situations evolve and needs change. For groups, I also offer In the Public Eye® – my signature program designed to guide people through decisions about what becomes visible and how it’s communicated, building capability in a comprehensive and structured way.

Coaching

Set communication goals and play to strengths

Coaching helps you identify what gets in the way of clarity and confidence so you can communicate deliberately under pressure. Through a strengths-based approach, you’ll build the mindset needed to handle high-stakes situations with composure.

Step away from the noise to decide how you want to show up publicly and privately, and to set personal communication goals. I use powerful questioning and practical, evidence-based tools to help you develop an action plan, stay motivated, and on track.

Common coaching goals include:

  • Clarity about who you are and what you stand for

  • Clear boundaries around your private life in public settings

  • Composure when presenting or in media interviews

  • Measured responses to criticism or misrepresentation

  • Sound judgement in difficult, high-stakes conversations

Training

Build essential skills for public-facing roles

Training develops the specific media and communications skills and knowledge people need as visibility, scrutiny, and expectations increase. The focus is on building capability ahead of critical moments, so messages and responses are considered rather than improvised.

I combine instruction, tools, practice, and feedback to prepare you for the specific scenarios you’re likely to face, using techniques you can apply straight away. This practical, targeted work ensures you progress towards achieving your goals.

Training sessions could include:

  • Communications planning through a recognised framework

  • Professional narrative development and positioning

  • News values to anticipate what will be reported and how

  • Boundary-setting for media, online, and public interactions

  • Practical preparation for interviews, presentations, and Q&As

Advice

Make strategic decisions and manage complexity

Strategic advice is for moments when context matters, and decisions have consequences. I share my expertise, perspectives, and recommendations, drawing on more than 35 years’ experience in media and communications, as well as best practice.

Hands-on support is available when needed – from message development to issues management (preparation) and crisis communications (escalation) – helping head-off or stabilise situations, maintain trust, and communicate effectively with media and stakeholders.

Strategic advice centres on:

  • Audience identification and analysis; stakeholder mapping

  • Message development, refinement, and testing

  • Media interview and public appearance rehearsal

  • Communication strategy development, execution, and review

  • Issues management planning and crisis communication

Exclusive training to navigate public life

In the Public Eye® is a signature group training program for people stepping into greater visibility. It prepares participants by building an understanding of what triggers and amplifies attention, and the critical difference between being visible and being exposed.

Few people are prepared for the extent of public commentary that can reach into their private lives. This program helps you anticipate what’s likely to come, understand what’s expected of you, and decide how you’ll respond in the spotlight.

The training focuses on the three things that matter most when you’re in the public eye:

Identity

Owning who you are before others define you

Boundaries

Deciding what’s public and what stays private

Clarity

Communicating deliberately, weighing the consequences

Using realistic scenarios from face-to-face interactions, social platforms, and traditional media, participants work through situations they’ve encountered or are likely to encounter, and plan how to engage publicly while maintaining appropriate personal boundaries.

In the Public Eye® is an essential induction for anyone transitioning from private citizen to public figure, including elected representatives, business leaders, spokespeople, sports talent, and creatives. The training is practical, interactive, and tailored to the role, context, and level of visibility involved.

Delivery options

Coaching, training, and advice are offered to individuals and groups, in person or online.

In the Public Eye® is designed as a two-day intensive program. Modules may be delivered separately to suit your timing and needs.

Skills Discovery

Unlock your potential through greater insight

This world-leading development model reveals how you use your unique skills as a communicator – which ones you prefer, how often, and how effectively you apply them.

I’m accredited to deliver the strengths-led psychometric assessment, helping identify which skills to lean into, dial back, and combine in public and professional settings. The profile informs preparation, learning, and decision-making for people in the public eye.

Skills Discovery can help explore questions such as:

Considering a high-profile role? Understand how the spotlight is likely to affect you, so you can manage it.

Preparing for a media or public event? Identify whether you’re more naturally a narrator or explainer.

Struggling to engage effectively with others? Consider the strengths you can draw on or use differently.
